The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne was written in 1850. It depended on the Puritans of the 1600's, which were restored in Hawthorne's time. Hawthorne slid from Puritan legacy and held a feeling of blame and contempt for their lifestyle. He utilized numerous topics and abstract strategies in The Scarlet Letter including imagery and incongruity. He stressed the person's job in the network and the job of ladies in the public arena. Hawthorne utilized sentimentalism instead of the old style accuracy of composing. Sentimentalism was a masterful and scholarly development that started in the eighteenth Century and focused on compelling feeling and creative mind. Strictness was the conviction that all people are corrupt and that it is just however God and the holy book that one can discover reclamation. Hawthorne didn't concur with their way of thinking. "The inclination of that Hawthorne had for calling upsetting things 'Puritanic' means that he dismissed Puritanism†¦" (Gerber, p.41) He felt they were wolves in sheep's clothing and protrayed them as stodgy and baffled. They experienced their lives making amends or sins they were brought into the world with. Unexpectedly, Hawthorne's works appeared to be only that-penance for his future sin, the puritan legacy that he was brought into the world with.      Even thought The Scarlet Letter set in 1642 in New England, it was written in 1850 at the restoration of Puritanism. It centered the job of ladies in the public eye. Hawthorne had a solid love for ladies and never depicted them powerless...
